In an entertaining match at Cairo´s International Stadium, more than 70,000 spectators saw European and Spanish Champions FC Barcelona winning against African and Egyptian Champions Al-Ahly. Goals were scored by Javier Saviola, youngster Bojan Krkic Perez and Samuel Eto´o (2).


After kick-off it was Al-Ahly who started better into the game. Barca lined-up an unusual squad with Olmo in defence and an attacking trio build of Ezquerro, Gudjohnsen and 16-year-old wonderboy Bojan Krkic Perez, who played on the left wing.


Barcelona produced the first real chance of the game when Marquez fired a shot at Al-Ahly´s goal, but the Egyptian keeper had no trouble to stop the shot.


The first Barca goal came on minute 17 when Iniesta´s corner provided Marquez with he header towards the far post. Saviola had no problems to nod the ball home.


Saviola could have made his second goal just minutes later in a similar fashion but this time the ball went over the cross bar.


The second goal saw a brilliant Saviola dribbling around the Egyptian defence just at the edge of the penalty area to finally sent youngster Bojan on his Barca debut free. The 16 year old wonderboy Bojan finished in trademark style. The goalgetter clipped the ball over the approaching Al-Ahly keeper into the top of the goal. What an impressive goal for this young boy who clearly showed that he has good a big future ahead of him in this Barca team.


The first big chance for Al-Ahly was on minute 35, when Barca goalkeeper Victor Valdés stopped Moteab superbly in a one-on-one.


2-0 at halftime and the lead was clearly deserved. After the break, Rijkaard started with a completely different team. 17-year old Giovanni Dos Santos was paired with Joquera, Oleguer, Thuram, Puyol, Gio, Deco, Xavi, Messi, Eto'o and Ronaldinho.


FC Barcelona was clearly in charge of the game and dominated throughout the second half. The consequence: 2 more goals from Eto´o (77´ and 90´).
