The new turf for the Nou Camp pitch has arrived. Three trailers loaded with grass arrived in Barcelona yesterday. The old surface has now been removed and the under surface is already being treated with organic materials and fertilizer to encourage root growth and improve the base for the new turf.
The new pitch is to be laid in 10 meter long sections, 78 centimeters wide and 3.5 centimeters deep.

A further 25 trailers are due to arrive from Bordeaux, within the next few days, bringing a total of around 1100 sods of turf. The new turf should be completely laid by this Saturday. The surface is being laid with the help of laser spirit levels, which will ensure that any puddles due to the accumulation of rainwater will not appear, as well as making certain that the correct gradient is applied at the sides of the pitch.
