FC Barcelona confirms on their official website that the company Betandwin has withdrawn its formal offer to become the club's first official shirt sponsor. The official statement says: "However, FC Barcelona wish to point out that, although the different offers that the club has received over the last few months have included date limits, both parties have always remained open to continuing the negotiation of possible forms of collaboration, irrespective of the dates stipulated in the documentation of the offers, which have acted as mere formalities since conversations were started in November 2004.

FC Barcelona wishes to publicly express its gratitude for Betandwin's interest in extending its participation in the club's sponsorship programme."

The www.fcbarcelonablog.com already reported about the record offer for the jersey deal and that a deadline had been set. The "mega-deal" would have been the highest shirt deal ever in history and would have made FC Barcelona probably to the richest Club in the world.

The www.fcbarcelonablog.com also reported that some directors of the board have been opposing the deal.

The Betandwin deal has been on and off since a while and we will see what comes next.
