Villarreal playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme who has been linked with a move to Manchester United recently, feels his Argentinian colleague Leo Messi is a better player than the England striker Wayne Rooney.


Riquelme Riquelme believes that the Barcelona youngster and the Manchester United striker are two of the best upcoming players in the world but Messi is the better of the two talents.


Riquelme was quoted:

I do not believe Rooney is as good as Messi. Rooney is a very good young player but he is not Lionel Messi. Messi will shine at the World Cup because he is showing great form this season and playing great football. He is different to the rest. I think he is on the road to becoming one of the best players in the world.
