The situation is as following: FC Barcelona is in pole position to sign the Arsenal striker with the outstanding scoring record. Thierry Henry and FC Barcelona have already a verbal agreement in place, that after a final decision to leave Arsenal he will join FC Barcelona. This is a fact! Thierry Henry wants to come to Barcelona and Barça wants the Arsenal striker to join the catalan club. This verbal agreement is in place since many month ago and Henry just has to take a final decision to leave Arsenal and after that, FC Barcelona will start the negotiations over the amount of the tranfer fee with Arsenal. We all know, once a player wants to leave a Club and knows which team he is going to sign for, the negotiation of the transfer fee is a simple procedure. Thierry Henry's transfer is totally suppoorted by the FC Barcelona president Jan Laporta and most of his board room members, the technical staff around coach Frank Rijkaard, as well as most of the star players like Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Xavi, Deco and Puyol who have expressed in different Spanish Media their aprovenment to Henry's transfer. Everybody admirers the goal scoring skills and personality of Thierry and expressed their wish openly for the catalan Club to sign this exceptional player. Barça's President, Joan Laporta, has mentioned in intimate circles that the deal is already done. Last July Joan Laporta already discussed with Arsenal Vice-President David Dein in his office a future transfer, once Henry should decide to leave the Gunners. A possible transfer had been talked through and it is agreed that Barca has first choice on Henry.

The only opposing party in a potential transfer is inside the Club itself. FC Barcelona's thechnical secretary, Txiki Beguiristain, prefers Diego Forlán from Villareal to Thierry Henry, because he believes Forlán can be another "Larsson". Txiki Beguiristain, yes! The same sport director who was responsible for the signing of... Mario... Ezquerro... Maxi López... all players that are not playing at Barça anymore or have no to little future.

We do not want to discuss at this point who is the better player, Thierry Henry or Diego Forlan, but we purely want to put the facts together and inform our readers. The fact is: FC Barcelona is clearly in pole position to sign Thierry Henry. Other mentioned rivals for his signature such as Chelsea (who concentrate on their Mega-Ballack deal), Real Madrid and Inter Milano are far behind and seem to be without chance. Thierry Henry will sign his last big contract soon and it seems he is ready to join one of the biggest football Club in the world. Thierry Henry has a verbal agreement already with Barça, but like always... only time will tell where Henry is scoring his goals next season.
