Bayern Munich have gone public with the fact that they are very keen on signing Mark Van Bommel as the successor to Michael Ballack who will join Chelsea FC this summer. But the Barca midfielder refuses to move to the German champions:
"I want to stay many years in Barcelona because I am playing for a great Club, I have very close friends in the team and I am living in a fanstastic City". 
But Bayern Munich´s president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge denies throwing in the towel over the versatile midfielder and does not want to give up the hope of signing the FC Barcelona midfielder in the summer:
"Mark van Bommel is the player we like. He has great quality and a good character. We will check with FC Barcelona and his agent if there are possibilities to sign him for Bayern Munich".
