FC Barcelona´s official website announed that Barca have signed an agreement with Chinese computer giants Lenovo to co-operate over a period of the next six months in an advertizing deal that will see Barca superstar Ronaldinho promote the firm's products.
The Brazilian international and Barca hero Ronaldinho will become the first Barça player ever to appear in a television advertisement spot for the Chinese market. FC Barcelona and Lenovo agreed this commercial deal on Thursday. The collaboration was sealed by Barça's Marketing Vice-President, Marc Ingla and the president of Lenovo for China, Shaopeng Chen, and the Lenovo Group Vice-President, Li.
The chinese company Lenovo has never entered into the world of football before, but sponsored the recent Winter Olympic Games in Turin and will be one of the main sponsors of the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008.
Ingla pointed out the importance of the fast growing Chniese market and explained Barca´s marketing strategy: "This is one way that we can be close to the club's fans in China".
In the television advertisement spot for Lenovo, Ronaldinho will appear in some scenes dressed in the Barça kit. The agreement means great exposure of FC Barcelona's image, as both the television and print versions of the advert will be shown throughout Europe, North America and the whole of Asia, with the exception of Japan. Shaopeng Chen was delighted with the marketing deal that includes Ronaldinho and explained: "We chose him because is a splendid player, the number one, he is young and has great technique."
On Thursday evening and throughout Friday, Ronaldinho was filming his part in the advertisement for Lenovo. During the two days, the Brazilian will shoot the different stages with one scene being in the Camp Nou meaning that Barça's stadium will be seen throughout the world.
