FC Barcelona wants to extend the current contract with Mexican defender Rafael Márquez until 2010. His current contract has 1 more year to run and expires in the summer 2007. Mexican international Márquez is keen to sign an extension but FC Barcelona will make no contract offers before the UEFA Champions League final in Paris against Arsenal. Barca defender Márquez has got several offers from top clubs in Europe but and AC Milan are supposed to having made an extremely good financial offer to bring the mexican star to San Siro. But also Chelsea might be interested to chase Barca´s central defender, if Chelsea´s defenders Gallas and Carvalho should leave Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Márquez´ agent, Jorge Mendes, who has very strong links with Chelsea FC awaits news from FC Barcelona after his meeting with Barca´s president Joan Laporta over one week ago but FC Barcelona officials declared that no contract negotiations will be concluded before the final in Paris against Arsenal has been played.
