Arsenal officials have called a news conference for 14:00 (London time) today to announce that Arsenal´s Thierry Henry will sign a new contract with Arsenal FC. Henry told the English tabloid 'The Sun' on Friday morning that he will agree a new 4 years contract with the Gunners.


The press conference will put an end of specultions whether the Arsenal star Henry will join Champions League winners FC Barcelona. Henry, who admitted his "love" of Barca and who had a verbal agreement to join FC Barcelona if he would ever leave Arsenal seems to feel that their is some unfinished business in London.


After the defeat in the Champions League Final on Wednesday, this seems to be the news all Arsenal fans are waiting for and that could soften their disappointment.
The French international himself admitted that he was unsure for a long time if the team would meet his standard and therefore was reluctant to sign a new contract. Henry now seems content to commit his future to Arsene Wenger's young Arsenal side and told English tabloid THE SUN:

"I hope to stay for as long as I can keep running. I could not face leaving the fans. They are like my family. I hope to finalise all the details today. My team showed me I didn't have to leave. They showed me they had heart. Everything was up in the air for a very long time. But at the end of the day, the team raised their game. Don't get me wrong. I love Barcelona. But on Wednesday night, Arsenal showed me they had heart."
