Barca´s Assistant coach Henk Ten Cate takes over Ajax Amsterdam as head coach next season.
Rijkaard's assistant Ten Cate had also attracted interest from the English Premiership and PSV before he finally decided to take over Ajax. Last night, Ten Cate, Henrik Larsson and Gabri received their farewell from the Barca crowd during the official Champions League Celebrations at Camp Nou.
The final decision of Barca´s Henk Ten Cate is expected to be formally announced in a press conference scheduled for later today. Barca´s president Joan Laporta and Barcelona manager Frank Rijkaard will be present, when Ten Cate will address the media.
Barca assistant coach Ten Cate has been a very loyal assistant to Rijkaard. The tactical adviser and "right hand man" of boss Rijkaard has been in demand for a while now and turned down the Ajax job last year when Ex-Barca hero Ronald Koeman had to leave the Ajax Arena. His target was to try and win the Champions League together with friend Frank Rijkaard.
Ten Cate has been in charge to observe and analyse the opponents prior to important matches and as we can all see has done a brilliant job.
Finally, he has reached the desired target to win the European Champions League. Ten Cate Barca shares an excellent relationship with Frank Rijkaard and the latter does not want to stand in the way of his friend, after such a succesfull time at the Club.
Ten Cate, who managed Sparta Rotterdam and NAC Breda before going to Barca is now keen to get back into the driving seat.
FC Barcelona Blog wishes Henk Ten Cate good luck and success with Ajax Amsterdam!
