The European Super Cup final between the two Spanish teams FC Barcelona and Sevilla will be played on August 25th at the Stade Louis II in Monaco.
After Barça won the UEFA Champions League by defeating Arsenal 2-1 in Paris and FC Sevilla winning the UEFA Cup in Eindhoven after hammering Middlesbrough 4:0, it will be the first time two Spanish teams will play the Final of the European Super Cup.
FC Barcelona could win the European Super Cup for the third time, equalling the 3 wins of Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam and English Premiership Club Liverpool and Barca would only be one win short of Italian side AC Milan. Barca won the Super Cup for the first time in 1992-93 against Werder Bremen and 1997-98 against Borussia Dortmund.
FC Barcelona have lost the European Super Cup final three times after winning the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1979, 1982 and 1989 against Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa and AC Milan respectively.
