According to El Mundo Deportivo in Barcelona, Barca have reportedly agreed to prepare a bid in the amount of €11.5 million to Chelsea for Eidur Gudjohnsen after talks with Villarreal for Diego Forlan stalled.
The Barca technical staff are keen to bring in a decent replacement for Swedish striker Henrik Larsson and have turned their attentions to the Iceland international Gudjohnson of Chelsea.
There is reportedly also interest from Manchester United in attacker Gudjohnson but Barca are hoping that Chelsea do not want to give their forward away to an English Premiership rival. Barca coach Frank Rijkaard believes that Gudjohnson is the perfect substitute for Larsson, who has returned to his native Sweden to play for Helsingborg next season.
FC Barcelona´s first choice has been Diego Forlán from Villarreal, but talks between the two clubs are on ice. Villarreal are still alsking for €15 million for the former Manchester United forward and Uruguyan international, but Barca are still hoping to reduce the transfer fee by including players such as Javier Saviola and Maxi Lopez in exchange.
