FC Barcelona have confirmed the details of their pre-season tour to Mexico and the United States from August 1 to 13. The Champions League winner Barcelona will play Tigres (Mexico) in Monterrey (Mexico), Chivas (Mexico) in Los Angeles (USA), Club America (Mexico) in Houston (USA) and the New York Red Bulls (USA) in New York (USA). Later, Barca will also play Bayern Munich in the annual invitational match for the Joan Gamper Trophy at Camp Nou on August 22.


FC Barcelona also already enjoyed previously a tour to the United States in the summer of 2003 when they played their matches in Boston, Philadelphia and Washington. The 2006 pre-season tour to Mexico and USA is part of the marketing strategy of international expansion at FC Barcelona. Los Angeles, Houston and New York, have been selected as being three of the largest cities in the USA with a large Latin population, ideal to expand the presence of Barca in North America.
