Next Friday, a meeting will be held between the RFEF and officials from both clubs, FC Barcelona and RCD Espanyol to discuss dates to play the 'Spanish Super Cup'.
The RFEF insists that the Spanish Supercup will be played in the old 2-leg format and could interfere with the traditional Joan Gamper Trophy between Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona on August, 22.
On the 25th of August Barca will play the European Super Cup against FC Sevilla in Monaco and the pre-season tour to Mexico & the USA will be finished by 12th of August, leaving not much space to find an acceptable date for both legs to be played. The Catalunya Cup Final between Barca and Espanyol also need to be fitted into the busy summer schedule.
Maybe the meeting in Madrid will give us a better overview of the situation. Let´s hope so!
