FC Barcelona´s football departement is 106 years old and had players of 35 nationalities playing for the Club, but never until now a player from Iceland.


Eidur Gudjohnsen was born in Iceland and has played most of his professional football in the English Premier League starting with Bolton Wanderers before moving to Chelsea London. The new Barca striker combines power, versatility and technique. Gudjohnsen has been highly valued by his coaches for his strength and power, so typical of players from the north of Europe, as well as for his ball skills and versatility. He shoots well with both feet and has a good header. He can play any position in attack and is also able to play in midfield.

Gudjohnsen played 6 seasons for Chelsea and scored 78 goals in 263 matches. The Icelandic forward is also a great provider of goals and made 9 assists for Chelsea last season.
Gudjohnsen won two Premiership titles, one Carling Cup and one Community Shield with Chelsea. He played 40 times for Iceland´s national team.
