Today, FC Barcelona will complete the signing of Chelsea´s Eidur Gudjohnsen. Gujohnsen and his father are already in Barcelona, following an agreement between Barcelona and Chelsea over a €12 mill. transfer fee.


The official FC Barcelona website reported:

"FC Barcelona and Chelsea have reached an agreement over the transfer of Eidur Gudjohnsen. The club and the player have also reached, in principle, an agreement for the next four seasons."

FC Barcelona offered the formar Bolton striker a lucrative four-year deal and Gudjohnsen needed little time to agree to personal terms with the Champions League Winners, Barcelona. Barca´s coach Frank Rijkaard rates Chelsea´s Gudjohnsen very highly and sees him as the ideal forward to replace Swedish international Henrik Larsson who departs to Helsingborg after the World Cup in Germany.
Gudjohnsen will undergo a medical at the Nou Camp (13:00 local time) today. The new contract between Barca and Gudjohnsen will be signed after passing the medical and the 27 year old forward will be presented officially to the media shortly after his signature.


Gudjohnsen has proved to be one of the top forwards in the English Premiership over the past 8 years and his technical qualities and goal scoring skills will fit well with the attacking playing style of FC Barcelona.



His move will upset several English Premiership clubs, Manchester United among them who have been interesested to sign Eidur Gudjohnsen.
