Representatives of FC Barcelona and RCD Espanyol have met at the Spanish Football Federation headquarters in Madrid today to decide when the Spanish Super Cup will be played. An official announcement is expected over the next few days.

At the Federación Española de Fútbol headquarters in Madrid, FC Barcelona technical secretary Txiki Begiristain, along with representatives of RCD Espanyol and the general secretary of the RFEF, Jorge Pérez, have come up with two proposals for the dates of this competition:

a) August 17 and August 20. The first game will be played at the Olympic Stadium and the return at the Camp Nou. This will only be possible if FIFA allows the international players who in theory have other commitments on August 16, to take part.

b) August 19 and September 20. This would be the alternative if FIFA does not allow time off for the international players who have friendlies scheduled for August 16.
