Unfortunately, Barca defender Edmilson will not be able to help Brazil lift the World Cup trophy in Germany, as he did in Japan/Korea in 2002.

Edmílson is following the action in Brazil due to an injury in the Brazilian training camp while preparing for the World Cup. However, Barca star José Edmilson is working hard for his come back and to regain fitness for next season.
Brazilian international José Edmílson broke his meniscus and had to be transferred back to Sao Paolo to be operated. Edmilson is now recovering from his injury with his family back in Brazil and revealed:
"I will be ready for the new season, I have been lucky that the injury isn´t very serious. I will only be out for another 2 weeks. It's all looking good and the knee is not swollen".
Doctors have confirmed that Edmilson is making good progress and is well on the road to recovery.
The injury is a psyochological blow because the Brazilian international already lost the most part of the 2004-05 season through injury and now he had another set-back at such a crucial time. Edmilsons admitted:
"It was tough. I had worked so hard all season in the build up to the world cup and now this, I am gutted. But now I am more relaxed and enjoying my holidays with my family".
