FC BARCELONA 3-0 REAL MADRID

Barcelona Youth (U19) overcame a 1:4 first leg defeat by trashing arch-rivals, Real Madrid 3:0 at the Mini-Estadi on Sunday evening. By turning around the 3 goal margin, Barca Juvenile are able to defend their Copa del Rey title won last year. The final will be played in Zaragoza against Albacete.

The Barca Youth Policy team dominated the entire match and produced many goalscoring opportunities in the first half, but they were all wasted. Even a penalty was scuffed by Venezuelian youngster Jeffren Suárez before the break.
Young Mexican/Brazlian superstar Giovanni Dos Santos, scorer of Barca´s oh-so important away goal on Friday evening showed his brilliance and fantastic technical skills on the right wing. Great moves, excellent dribblings and his fast and powerful runs caused a lot of trouble to opposiing defenders.

Bojan
But perhaps the real relevation of this match was young Bojan Krkic, only 15 years old, who made the starting line-up. He works very hard up front and it is a delight to watch the fast-paced and technically gifted Barca youngster dribbling and outplaying several of his opposing defenders, who are up to 3 years older than the young Barcelona forward.

The Barca defence showed a solid performance and denied Real Madrid any serious goalscoring opportunities in the entire 90 minutes.

Giovanni

5 minutes into the second half, young Bojan Krkic open the scoring with a great goal. His strong, right-footed shot from the penalty area left the Merengue goalkeeper Reguero no chance. Now, Àlex Garcia's team and the crowd in the Mini-Estadi of Barcelona realised that a surprising sensation was in the air. Barca pushed forward, going for the second goal and the Barca youngster were rewarded 6 minutes later with a goal from Dani Toribio. Dani Toribio, who missed two clear chances in the first half, stood freely in front of the Real goalkeeper and had no problems placing the ball into the net this time round.

The Barca youngster pressed Real Madrid into their own half and creating several opportunities to score and it was pacey left winger, Jeffren who came the closest to scoring. On the left wing he dribbled through three Merengue defenders to fire off a very strong right-footed shot from just inside the penalty area, flashing a few inches past Madrid´s left post.

The highlight came in the 80th minute, when a fantastic pass from Barca´s midfield sent Giovanni Dos Santos free. The Mexican U17 FIFA World Cup star's defence-breaking solo run finished superbly by lopping over the excellent Real goalkeeper Reguero.


Barca deserved to win, thanks to a great offensive performance and a very solid defence denying Real any scoring opportunities. The Barca midfield definetely had Madrid under control. The fighting spirit and probaly the two outstandingly talented youngsters, Giovanni Dos Santos and Bojan Krkic, made the difference.

The match against Real Madrid was first class entertainment and surely several players in this team will have the chance to make an impact in the first team in the future. Everybody, in attendance at the Mini-Estadi yesterday, can see why these exciting Barca youngsters are observed week in, week out by scouts from English Premiership teams such as Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspurs and Manchester United. The La Masia youth development brings out the best from these most exciting and talented youth players.
