FC Barcelona´s official website reported that shortly FC Barcelona will close seven business agreements with major companies in Southeast Asia, China and Japan as part of the club's international business expansion programme.
These agreements include media related projects, covering the areas of television, Internet, mobile phones, audiovisual products and magazines, as well as credit cards and consumer products. The companies that will sign deals with FC Barcelona are Tiger, Titan Sports, Sports CN, Eurosoccer and Rakuten.
The club's strategic plan has two main objectives: to promote the international projection of Barça through media platforms and to explore new means of income.
Commercial and marketing department executives travelled to Asia yesterday to settle the different agreements. Today, they will be discussing a trade and sponsorship deal with the Tiger company in Singapore, which will generate new sources of club income through this company being able to use the Barça name in its promotions.
On Wednesday and Thursday, the club representatives will be in Beijing (China) speaking to Titan Sports, Sports CN and Eurosoccer. The Titan agreement is related to an exclusive Barça magazine for the Chinese market, while Sports CN is looking at producing an exclusive Chinese language website about FC Barcelona. The Eurosoccer contract will mean Barça TV will be broadcast throughout China as part of the club's official TV station's international expansion scheme. The final stop is Tokyo (Japan) on Friday and talks about three further contracts with Japanese company Rakuten concerning the use of credit cards carrying the Barça logo, the creation of a Japanese language website and an exclusive Barça magazine for sale in Japan. Rakuten is one of the world's most powerful Internet companies.
