FC Barcelona are getting closer and closer to signing Frank Rijkaard´s transfer target, veteran defender Lilian Thuram from Juventus Turin.


Juventus have been relegated to Serie B and Thuram is not expected to finish his career in a lower league. The French international played a fantastic World Cup in Germany this summer. Barca are keen to strengthen their defence and the experienced Thuram is the ideal signing for Rijkaard.


This weekend Lilian Thuram spoke for the first time since the Serie A verdicts came out. Thuram categorically denied that he would be playing in Serie B with Juventus. Instead, he revealed that his intention is to finish his to play for a top club and he would like to play for FC Barcelona:

"There are almost no possibilities that I will play with Juventus in Serie B. For the time being I have not spoken yet much with the club. I just hope to find a team in time to remain in the topflight. Barcelona would be a nice destination for me."
