After the extraordinary board meeting of the FC Barcelona, president Joan Laporta announced that the club will respect the orders handed down by the judge and will resign to pave the way for elections to be held.

Soon after the extraodinary bord meeting ended, barca president Laporta made an official statement and spoke to the media explaining the four main points that have been discussed:

Immediately after the ruling by the court we stated to everyone that we would appeal the judgement. However, we have now decided to meet on Tuesday the 25th, as was previously arranged, to approve the formulation of stories and accounts so that on Wednesday, July 26, we will resign to allow the electoral process to be organised by an organising committee. Finally, I want to say that the board that I am proud to preside over will be running in the elections because I truly believe that the project that we have is good for Barça and should continue. We have the same passion and feel stronger than ever about defending the interests of FC Barcelona. At all times we want to maintain the stability of the first team football squad," he said. "It has taken a lot of effort until now and we believe that right now is a crucial time in one of the best moments in the history of FC Barcelona.

According to Article 30.4 of FC Barcelona's Articles of Association:

- "The Managing Commission will be made up of half the number of people on the previous board, at the moment when they stand down, but there must be a minimum of seven members." That means that if the club's board was made up of 18 members, then the Managing Commission will have nine members.

- "The President of the Managing Commission will come from the club's Economic Commission, who, along with the President of Catalan Football Federation, will appoint the members of Commission from the Economic Commission and Disciplinary Commission of the board that has just stepped down."

That means that Xavier Sala i Martin, President of the Economic Commission under Laporta will become the President of the Managing Commission.
