German Bundesliga Club Hamburger SV made inqueries about Barca´s striker Saviola who has no role in coach Frank Rijkaard´s future plans.


Saviola has another year to run on his current contract with FC Barcelona and is expected to leave the club as soon as an acceptable offer will appear.


Bolton and Panathinaikos are the strongest suitors of the Argentine World Cup player but so far no offer was good enough to be accepted by both, Barcelona and Saviola. But latest reports from Germany have linked the ambitious team of coach Thomas Doll with top star Saviola and have expressed an interest in the player through intermediars. No official approach has been made from Hamburg direct to FC Barcelona so far.


Hamburg has been unlucky so far in signing a top striker. Fans and coach Doll are unhappy about the situation, knowing that a top hitman has to be signed to challenge champions and cup winners Bayern Munich. Hamburg would be able to meet Barca´s 6 mill. price tag on Saviola but it would be very difficult to meet Saviola´s salary demand, but Hamburg is able to offer Saviola European Football. Should Hamburg qualify for the Champions League by beating Osasuna a deal could become realistic if Hamburg is willing to break their wage structure.


FC Barcelona Blog does not believe that a transfer is realistic but with all parties involved to get increasingly desperate for a solution, you never know, if a deal can surprisingly struck.


But the latest reports in Spain suggest that ambitious German outfit Hamburg have expressed an interest in the player.


Hamburg have asked for information from Barcelona and would be able to offer European football to Saviola if a deal is agreed between the clubs.


Barcelona admitted prior to the weekend that it remains possible for the South American to stay at the club, but he is unlikely to be considered a key figure by coach Frank Rijkaard.
