The Barca Youth players that have been training in the preseason with the first team will fly back home to Barcelona apart from Jesús Olmo.

Barca coach Frank Rijkaard has decided that he does not need the youngsters any more due to the fact that all international stars have returned from there holiday and are finally available. Young defender Jesús Olmo has been asked to stay as there is still work to be done with new players Liliam Thuram and Gianluca Zambrotta.

José Ramon Alexanco, former Barca captain and youth football co-ordinator will also be going back to Barcelona with the players Marc Crosas, Lluís Sastre, Jordi Gómez, Giovani Dos Santos and Llorenç Riera. Alexanco looked after the youngsters while they have been on tour to the USA and Mexico with the first team.

What a fantastic debut goal from Merida. 3-0 to Arsenal, from all of 25 yards.

Pretty good debut goal from Giovani dos Santos too. With players like that, who will ever miss Fran Merida? They just keep on coming from the cantera at La Masia.
