FC Barcelona have arrived in New York, the last stop on their Tour 2006. After Barca played América in an exciting 4-4 draw, it took 3 hours for the Barca group of players, staff and officials to arrive savely at New York´s Newark Airport at 6.35 a.m. local time.

This is the last stop of the very successful Tour 2006. In Monterrey (Mexico), 43,000 fans filled the Universitario Stadium and in Los Angeles, almost 93,000 spectators attended the match at the Los Angeles Coliseum. In Houston, more than 70,000 took the chance to see Barca play live. An amazing 200,000+ fans watched Barca live and with another 75,000 fans expected in the New York Giants Stadium, the total number will reach nearly 300,000.

The match against América at the Reliant Stadium smashed the stadium record for attendance at a football match, beating the 69,582 that witnessed the match between the United States and Mexico in 2003. But Los Angeles now holds the overall record in the US. The Barca match in Los Angeles set a new record for the highest ever attendance at a football match in the USA with 92,650 fans in the stadium.

Barca will take on the New York Red Bulls from the Major Soccer League at the Giants Stadium on Saturday. For Europeans, it will be early Sunday morning.

The Sara B. Roosevelt Park in South Manhattan will host the big NIKE Event spectacle on 10th of August. Sportswear producer Nike will organise a public event featuring the Barca players and other stars from American sports. Shortly after, the team will enjoy their first training session in the Giants Stadium.

The Barca Group will have less commitments in New York. The player will be able to relax more and we all hope that we will see a great Barca team playing the Red Bulls.
