Barca players Carles Puyol, Xavi and Andrés Iniesta have been named in the Spanish squad for the international friendly against Iceland on Tuesday, August 15. The friendly match in Rejkjavik will take place just 48 hours before the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Espanyol in the Olympic Stadium of Montjuïc.


Also Iceland´s international striker Eidur Gudjohnsen has been called up. The Iceland v Spain friendly match was put back from Wednesday to Tuesday to allow the Barcelona players involved time to recover and play in the Super Cup first leg on Thursday.


The only Barca player that will not be available for Barca coach Frank Rijkaard so far, is Brazilian international José Edmílson, who had been selected for the Norway friendly by new Brazilian national coach Carlos Dunga. Italy coach, Roberto Donadoni has not yet named his squad and Barça are hopeful that he will not pick Gianluca Zambrotta. Dutch Bonds coach Marco Van Basten has not called up Gio Van Bronckhorst and Mark Van Bommel for their game against Ireland on August 16 so that the duo is available for the Spanish Super Cup. Samuel Eto'o has not been named by Cameroon, while Lilian Thuram and Ludovic Giuly have been left out of the France squad.
