FC Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard showed his delight with the 1-0 win over Cup winners Espanyol in the Super Cup first leg but warned at the same time that the tie is not over yet because there is a second match to play at Cam Nou on Sunday. He also praised goal scorer Ludivic Giuly:
It is an important victory, although we still have to play the second leg at Camp Nou. We knew that we would have to suffer to win the game, but it is important to stress that we have done well in the first important match. The team was physically good enough to win the first important match of the season. Ludovic Giuly is a team player, who always looks to offer width. He is an important player in our fast and dangerous system."
