Joan Laporta is expected to be named FC Barcelona president for another 4 years as his rivals, Jordi Medina and Jaume will stand down, due to lack of public support. Both candidates failed to raise the support of 1,804 club members, the minimum necessary to stand up for elections.

This makes Laporta the only candidate in the election of FC Barcelona and therefore he could be re-installed as president from today on. Laporta presented an impressive 8,994 signatures of members who are willing to back his re-election. Laporta attended the Paris Room accompanied by his fellow ex-directors Ferran Soriano, Albert Vicens, Marc Ingla, Alfons Godall, Xavier Cambra and Rafael Yuste.

The proclamation of Joan Laporta as the new Barcelona president for the next 4 years is expected during the day after all signatures have been verified.
