Last night, we enjoyed a real Football Festival at the Camp Nou.


In Memory of the swiss founder of FC Barcelona, Hans Gamper (in Catalan: Joan Gamper), Barca played the 41st installment of the Gamper Trophy against Bayern Munich.
Initially organised as a tournament, it is reduced nowadays to an individual exhibition match for the prestigious Cup.


The annual Joan Gamper Trophy is the unofficial start of the season for all Barca fans. It is also an opportunity for many Barca fans and tourists to watch an FC Barcelona match without being the proud owner of a season ticket. All tickets are sold to the public.


The show before the match was impressive. Concerts outside of the stadium started around 18:00 and the real party inside the stadium Camp Nou began about 21:30.


Yesterday, 78,000 Barca fans attended FC Barcelona´s season opening ceremony. First, a female singer, performed a stylised gospel version of the Barca anthem,then a light show before balloons in the club colours, blue and red were released into the night sky.


Then, the moment that everyone was anticipating - the presentation of the first team squad and the technical staff. Every single player was presented individually on the field accompanied by a spectacular firework display.


After the presentation of the Barca team 2006-07, coach Frank Rijkaard and captain Carles Puyol adressed some words in Catalan to the public.


The event was a real family outing and a fantastic Football "Fiesta" to the delight of every single Culé who attended the Barca party.


But the icing of the cake was the teams magical perfomance on the pitch!
