FC Barcelona´s Mexican defender Rafael Márquez is set to become a Spanish citizen. Mexico´s captain Márquez has put all efforts to take on the Spanish nationality besides his Mexican and it seems now only a matter of time since Spain´s Ministry of Justice has given the green light.
FC Barcelona officials believe that he could sign the documents within 2 weeks and then Márquez will be registered as a nationalised player with the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the Professional Football League (LFP). The registration will free up one of the non-European places in FC Barcelona's squad.
