FC Barcelona´s players reacted disappointment after their first league defeat this season gainst bitter rival Real Madrid. Here are the post match comments of Messi, Xavi, Puyol, Deco and Ronaldinho:

Lionel Messi:

It's a pity, because we created lots of chances, but we just couldn't put them away. We have a great team though and mustn't let that go -we always knew Real Madrid had a strong team with great players and they showed that tonight. It was certainly a tough game for us.

Xavi Hernández:

I think we gave a good account of ourselves both here and in London in midweek. We played some great football, but they scored at key moments and that hurts. We are on the right track though and we are still at the top of the table. I don't think the result was fair as we played the better football, it's just a pity we couldn't make more of the chances we had.

Carles Puyol:

We're all a bit angry because we know we could have got a better result. We had good chances to score, but didn't take them. That first goal hit us hard, but we bounced back. Then after they'd got their second we maybe rushed our game a little. Now we have to stick together and keep our morale and confidence high. We are still leaders and we have a great squad who are working well together.

Deco:

We created the opportunities to score, but unfortunately, we just couldn't put them away. I think there was a foul in the build up to Real Madrid's first goal, but that's football and w can't fall back on it as an excuse.

Ronaldinho:

Conceding a goal so early on isn't good as it means you have to change a lot of your tactics. I thought both teams played well, the difference was we didn't put our chances away. Of course we miss Eto'o, but we've lost two games that you would always say we might have been expected. Now we have to talk things over and make sure we out right our errors.
