European and Spanish champions FC Barcelona are planning a pre-season tour to Scotland this summer. The Blaugrana are believed to be holding talks with both Dundee United and Hibernian about two friendly matches in July as part of their pre-season preparations for the season 2007/2008.

The Daily Record quoted a FC Barcelona official:

The club can confirm we are exploring the possibility of coming to Scotland this summer. We have a number of options and are hoping to play two games when we are there but no dates have yet been finalised.

Dundee United director Derek Robertson confirmed the talks:

Discussions have taken place with FC Barcelona about a possible pre-season friendly at Tannadice.
