FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta had only words of praise for the Barca team and for their fighting spirit against Mallorca. After the match he commented:
We have to congratulate the players for their effort as they fought right up until the end. The penalty save by Valdes changed the game. Barça are a team with aspirations to win the title. It took a lot of effort, however, the goal came in the end. Therefore, the hard work paid off. We now have to think about Getafe. This team had demonstrated the ability to keep working, we now have to think of every game as a final.
