FC Barcelona´s last summer signing from Chelsea, Eidur Gudjohnsen, insisted that he is totally focused on helping the Blaugrana to win their third Spanish Championship title in a row. He is not concerned about rumours that a general shake up and change of the team could see the Icelandic international leaving for England again.
Gudjohnsen declared that his only desire is to overtake Real Madrid and to win La Liga and he is not worried about his future at all. Media reports suggested West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a transfer but Gudjohnsen denied any transfer talks have taken place. On Barca´s official press conference he explained:
Now is not the time to worry about what will happen if we do not win the league. We can still win it and, therefore, as I have said before, we have to think positively and be optimistic about our chances. The players have talked a lot about recent results in the dressing room and we all agree that now is not the time to start looking back as we do not want to waste time worrying about what has already happened. We have to look to the next game and focus on that.
Nobody from the club has made contact with me or my father and I have a contract with FC Barcelona for next season. I have no regrets about coming here and I am not in the slightest bit interested in what anyone says or writes about whether I am staying or not when the season finishes. I am only thinking about the last four games.
