Getafe intends to hand a defeat to Barcelona if only that can appease their President who intends to hand the defeat out as a gift to his personally anointed club, Real Madrid.


Getafe President, Angel Torres has openly declared his attention to scuttle Barcelona's La Liga title chase by defeating Barca in Camp Nou this weekend. He said:

Winning at Camp Nou is very significant to me, as victory goes just beyond what it seems. Beating Barca and giving the title to Real will be the happiest thing for me.

Torres believes he can repeat the shock defeat inflicted on Barca some weeks ago in the Copa Del Rey. His openly expressed desire to beat Barcelona before that very match was followed by a 4-0 victory for Getafe, which ensured they dashed Barcelona's hopes of lifting the Copa Del Rey after cancelling a three goal advantage Barca had secured in the first leg of the encounter through a 5-2 scoreline. The Getafe President's prophetic powers will again be on test in this coming encounter.


Angel Torres feels a sense of obligation to furthering Real's title chase, as even though he is president of Getafe, he is also a socio (member) of Real Madrid. Issues concerning Real are often taken seriously by him. He really won't mind running affairs at the Bernabeu, as he believes being in charge of affairs at a club of Real's stature is the maximum blessing for a football executive. Right now, he is faced with the task of transforming Getafe from a Mdrid suburb club.
