Football Legend hails current soccer sensation





Barcelona's Wonder-Kid, Lionel Messi has expressed humility and gratitude in the face of recent comments and praises coming his way from football Idol, Argentina's Diego Maradona.


Messi says of his compatriot's words:

His comments were nice and coming from a unique player like Maradona too is even nicer. Diego Maradona is a unique player and he does things with the ball that somehow, no one manages to do. I am very grateful for his continued support for me and for his confidence in my ablities and in my career.

Much of the comments came after Messi's mind-blowing goal against Getafe. The goal was so awesome that it was instantly likened to Maradona's supernatural goal against England at the Mexico '86 World Cup which Argentina won.


Before then, the Barcelona revelation has often been compared to football's Hall of Fame Hero, Diego Maradona.


Messi hopes to reproduce such magic in the coming encounters against the remaining opponents of the Catalans as they battle for a top place finish in the final rounds of the Spanish League.
