Barcelona's kid-wonder, Lionel Messi speaks on the final day outcome.


Messi was very eager to win his La Liga title and put in all he could to do so, banging in two goals against Espanyol and another two against Gimnastic de Tarragona in the final day clash.
Unfortunately, these four strikes in the last two games were not enough to make his wishes of lifting the Primera Trophy come true.

Messi says:

This is a very painful experience. As we were playing the game, we knew what was going on at the Bernabeu becasue we could hear comments from the fans and also from our bench. At half time, we were Champions but by the end of the game, we were no longer the Champions. Madrid are Champions because they have done well for themselves and also because we gave them the opportunity to do so. We the fans and everyone are very disappointed as failed to achieve our aim of winning the title.

On prospects of overhauling the current Barca team with sweping changes, Messi disagrees that the current team are not up to the task:

The season has just ended. We must not rush to conclusion and become too complex in fact-finding and blames. This is a strong team and we have to continue having faith in ourselves.

Barcelona and the Spanish League will resume the new La Liga for next season in August.
