Barcelona Club Surgeon, Ramon Cugat begins treatment on Puyol's injured ligament.

As FC Barcelona prepare to buy new defenders, a sign of the great need to fortify the Catalan defence line has surfaced with the injury inflicted on Barca Captain, Carles Puyol in the international friendly against Mamelodi Sundowns in Pretoria.
Puyol has a ruptured left knee ligament and is reportedly undergoing the first stage of surgery and treatment, but may not recover soon enough to commence the new Spanish season in August or play in the early stages of European International matches for Spain against Iceland and Latvia in the Euro 2008 qualifiers in September.

The injury is not expected to heal before three months.

Treatment continues for the hardworking Barca skipper as the search for more defenders now intensifies with the mention of AS Roma defender Christian Chivu and Deportivo's Portuguese defence Marshal, Jorge Andrade.
Barca also want to strengthen the defensive midfield position and are looking toward French league stalwart, Yaya Toure of ASMonaco, who will come into full limelight if he signs for FC Barcelona. Yaya is eager to share the limelight with his elder brother, Kolo Toure of Arsenal FC.
