Moratti plays the spoiler as Chivu sails away from Italy.
With the prospect of losing Christian Chivu almost certain, Inter Milan President, Massimo Moratti has dismisses the quality defender's importance.
Moratti snubed Chivu's relevance to the Nerazzurri defence, saying:

My priority is to strengthen the team that won the Scudetto. Chivu's arrival is not a fundumental part of my plans.
Inter Milan have been on the heels of the Romanian defender, but received a set-back recently after both Chivu and his club, AS Roma developed cold feet toward the deal.
.
Chivu prefers to move abroad after sojourning in the Spanish League, while AS Roma prefer Christian goes to FC Barcelona where they believe his quality and best performance will come to the fore and also where they know the immensely talented defender will not be a vital element to strengthen Roma's opponents in the Serie A if he remains in Italy but with a different clubside.
Barcelona vice-President, Ferran Soriano has just returned from a trip to Rome to hold talks with AS Roma on Chivu, while another meeting has been scheduled for next week with the same AS Roma officials to see if a final agreement on Chivu van be reached.
Official offers from FC Barcelona for Christian Chivu are expected to be made in next weeks meeting.
