Good speech and I agree with you totally. Why do Gunner-fans turn against Henry when he's leaving? Ok yes, maybe I would have been pretty angry if Ronnie had decided to move to AC Milan, but I still would have thought he's the greatest player in the world.
Don't hate him because his leaving, think about all the things he has given to you. And you Gunners will probably get a good player to your team too with the 24 mil. euros. Torres, Tevez...?

Gustavo,
I agree with you that a back-up is needed, cos we suffered greatly when Eto'o and Messi were injured last season. Now there is another striker(Henry), who will be backed up by Ronaldinho and others who are also known to get good goals. The management is considering drafting the likes of Bojan Krkic, who has over 900 Junior career goals and Dos Santos to under study these more experienced strikers. This doesn't mean another quality goal scorer like Klaas Jan Huntelaar, who has 40 goals this season alone for Ajax will not be considered if the need arises. It is unlikely though, if such an upcoming striker with extreme potential will like to sit on the bench just when his career has taken off.

As an Arsenal season ticket holder I have the right to say that Henry has not been the same player for the past 2 seasons. Whether he is temporarily burnt out or constantly injury prone, it is hard to say. One thing is for sure, his head has certainly grown over the years and it has taken something from his play. Moaning at team mates and not bothering to move for a slightly stray pass is now part of his game, although I guess it would suit the slower tempo of the Spanish game. He has also lost pace, the most important part of his game.
As for the theory that Barcelona are a 'better' all round club than Arsenal, I had to laugh. We were formed 13 years previous to Barcelona and have plenty of history, not just in the trophy count, but to the actual contribution made to football as it is today. We have the largest fanbase of official, paid up, club members (well over 180,000), which goes to show how entertaining we must be to watch. We have a brand new, state of the art stadium that doesn't resemble a run down NCP multi storey car park. I'll give you the fact that the Nou Camp is large (it would need to be for the large egos inside). And finally, from the last official figures, Arsenal are the third most valuable club in Europe worth £466M (and rising) behind Manchester United and Real Madrid, with Barcelona the 9th most valuable, worth £273M.
So, your arrogance isn't exactly matched with intelligence.

To Gun:
Just a little note to your quite amusing comment. Accountants firm Deloitte rate Barca second behind Real Madrid and Arsenal only 9th in the 2007 Deloitte Football Money League, a ranking of the world's football clubs in terms of revenue. Barca has about 30% more revenues, actually makes a nice profits and the stadium is paid. Barca is the biggest football club in the world where the members actually decide about the fortunes of the club. Barca can not be owned by investors, board members and has no shareholders (these are the members). Barca can not been taken over by some US, Russian, Icelandic, Thai or whatsoever investor and the money goes to the benefit of the club and not into the pocket of the shareholders. This is, why Barca have money available to spent, every year. May be this is also a reason why the club is run in a different way and is more than a club. E.g. Barca does not receive any revenues from a shirt deal and this time advertise for UNICEF. I simply quoted what Henry said anyway. But if you are that clever, tell me your opinion why Henry wanted to leave Arsenal? He must have some motives or not? But yes, looking at it, Rijkaard and Txiki are muppets and have bought a lame duck. Looking forward to see the "old" Henry walking over the pitch in a wonderful attack consisting of Ronaldinho, Messi, Eto´o (if not sold). Surely, next year´s season ticket is worth every little cent!

I was merely defending my club from the big headed comments displayed in the original post and showing that Arsenal aren't such a big step down from Barcelona as some people think. Your Deloitte revenue quote is from the 05/06 season (at Highbury), we have since moved stadium which will see us leapfrog Barcelona's revenue for last season. As for the 'more than a club' crap, we can all say that. Most top clubs have parts of their set up which are different to others. Most fans aren't bothered if Father Christmas owns the club or if Unicef sponsors them.
Good luck to Henry. Of course Rijkaard is not a muppet for buying him. He has an excellent PAST reputation, but it's what he does NOW that will count for you, and like I said, for the past 2 seasons he has not been the same player.
