Newest addition into the Blaugrana family, Theirry Henry reveals his relationship with striking partner, Samuel Eto'o and his plans for success in FC Barcelona.


While the watching world anxiously await to see how FC Barcelona will bring out the twin best in their attacking pair of Samuel Eto'o and Thierry Henry, the French striker has taken the cue in informing all and sundry that he has an excellent off-the -pitch relationship with Samuel Eto'o, ahead of another potentially successful on-the-pitch relationship as well.
Speaking to the press after he officially signed for FC barcelona, Theirry spoke fondly of Eto'o and also expressed readiness to learn from other Barca stars who were in Camp Nou before him. Henry also reiterated in explanation that he was not influenced by any one to come to Barcelona, but took the decision on his own out of pure and genuine love for Barca and the football played by the Blaugrana, along with the team spirit and family atmosphere found among the players and management.

Henry emphasised:

Coming to Barcelona was my decision. I was not persuaded by anyone. I know some of the players already and I am friends with them already, even before now. I know Samuel Eto'o, Ronaldinho, Lilian Thuram and Ludovic Giuly well and talk to them regularly about all kinds of things. Eto'o and I are close friends and we have known each other from way back. We talk and we exchange visits. When I was injured he came to see me in London and when he was injured earlier this year I came over to visit him. We get along very well.

To the media hype about a potential rift between him and Eto'o as they two of them will double strike for Barca, Henry shrugs off such insinuation and says plainly amid light-hearted humour:

Eto'o and I are friends. As much as you guys in media would like us not to be friends, I am sorry to say that we are.

On events after news dominated the scene earlier this year, concerning internal disunity in among the team players and management too at Barca, Henry is not at all bothered by such speculations, choosing rather to interpret the events in his own special way. Theirry reasons that:

Barcelona went through a very intensive period two seasons ago and this must have spilled over the season just ended, with the usual effects of such intensity occuring. There is no question about the class and status of the players in Barca along with their committment to the club and to success. Anyway, I am finally here now, and I am very happy to be at Camp Nou. I will definitely give my best to make Barcelona even more successful than it was before. Barcelona always want to win everything and so do I. It is a team effort and not for only one person. We have to work as a team from the very start till the end.

Thierry Henry expressed happiness at being given the FC Barcelona Number 14 jersey worn by Barca Legend, Johan Cruyff. Henry sees this as pure coincidence, as he doesn't usually make special demands for particular jerseys numbers especially when the numbers are already being used by someone before him.

Thierry Henry looks forward to a very challenging, eventful and all-round successful season with Barca starting after the summer break. Total success was one of the motivating factors reported to have attracted the French goalking to the Blaugrana.
