FC Barcelona forward, Eidur Gudjohnsen is at destination crossroads.
Eidur Gudjohnsen is faced with the high possibility of leaving FC Barcelona, but his particular destination is not certain yet, though an idea of where the Icelandic star might reside next season tends toward United Kingdom, as the Icelandic star follows the yellow-beak-road back home to Great Britain. Manchester are the first mention in association with Eidur, but increasing references to Scotland is on, where Celtic have been linked with interests in the Barca Forward. Celtic recently acquired Milan midfielder Donati and are looking to acquire a quality striker to finish good midfield play.
Surely, Gudjohnsen will like to be in a club where he will have more playing time, and the Iceland international is not gauranteed a starting place or regular appearance in Man U jersey if he should move to Old Trafford. Manchester already have an array of stars, but with the English Premiership Champions reportedly putting striker Alan Smith in the market, Gudjohnsen may have a better chance to feature more regularly than he would have in Smith's presence. Another factor in Eidur's favour is the injury on another Man U striker, Luis Saha. All these sudden fortune however do not lock down a place for the Barca striker, as The Old Trafford Manager, Alex Fergusson is eyeing some other top notch strikers, even though Gudjohnsen is naturally liked by Sir Alex.
This effectively opens the door for Scottish Club, Celtic to come into the Gudjohnsen chase, without serious threat of having to compete with the financial and internationally viable image of Manchester United.
Should Eidur decide not to head up North of the Kingdom to Scotland, he may well settle for other English Premiership Clubs like Westham, Portsmouth or Newcastle, who will be very happy to have him.
Gudjohnsen however may prefer to remain with the bigger names like Manchester United, having had a taste of super stardom with Chelsea FC and Barcelona.
