Portuguese defender Jorge Andrade may be FC Barcelona's next signing.


After a week of relative silence, the name of Jorge Andrade, the strongman of Deportivo La Coruna has resurfaced in FC Barcelona's transfer books since Christain Chivu of AS Roma and Gabriel Milito are proving complicated to sign. FC Barcelona's Vice-President, Ferran Soriano has said :

FC Barcelona have a long list of defenders we can always sign other than just two players. We don't have a problem with that. We only need to assess who the right players for us are and take a decision on who to go for.

Signing either or both of Chivu and Milito has been complicated with clubs like Real Madrid and Serie A returnees, Juventus bidding for Chivu and Gabriel respectively, and the fact that both players have been unable to make up their minds have made matters worse. Chivu was destined for Inter Milan, but on hearing FC Barcelona were coming to town, the star defender turned his attentions to Camp Nou and now the Real Madrid offer is yet another option for the Romanian star who is keen on living life outside the Italian Serie A.

Deportivo La Coruna's Jorge Andrade meanwhile, has made a public declaration about his love for FC Barcelona and his willingness to put up his best performance for the Blaugrana if he is signed by the Catalan giants. Andrade may yet be the net signing for FC Barcelona if transfer talks for Chivu and Milito continue to be stalled.
