Christian makes it known to AS Roma where his heart lies.
AS Roma's Christian Chivu has once again, thrown the race for his signature open by indicating he will love to play for FC Barcelona instead of Real Madrid. Chivu has been associated with Barca for some weeks, only for the transfer talks that were almost sealed to experience a set back. Spanish rivals, Real Madrid stepped into the race, offering more cash and incentives to AS Roma for the Romanian defender Chivu, a development that tilted Roma's interest toward Madird and seemingly dragged the Romanian along, when Chivu was reported to have accepted the Madrid offer. Perhaps having to think twice on where his heart lies as against where money comes from and where he will be happy playing at, Chivu has this morning, sent word to Roma club officials that his dream is to play for FC Barcelona in the Blaugrana super squad for next season.
Jorge Andrade, Gabriel Milito, Pepe Lima and Gabriel Heinze have all been linked to FC Barcelona as the search for a solid central defender continues. The publicity associated with this search should have ended days ago but for the stalemate of talks between FC Barcelona and Christian Chivu's group. Chivu was expected to have signed for Barca and end the search for a new defender, though there are considerations for making two signings for highly dependable central defenders for Barcelona this summer, as one may still be insufficient, or just adequate.
