FC Barcelona's Dutch legend, Johan Cruyff has commented on the Barca's latest signings of Thierry Henry, Toure Yaya and Eric Abidal.

Having played for FC Barcelona and understood the internal workings of the Blaugrana, Johan Cruyff is inclined to give his assessment and verdict on the recent developments in Barcelona, which has mainly centred around transfers, both players coming and others leaving. Cruyff has focused his recent comments on the players who have recently been signed to play in Barca next season, Thierry Henry from Arsenal FC, Toure Yaya from AS Monaco and Eric Abidal from Olympique Lyonnaise. Prior to the transfer, Cruyff had openly wished Thierry henry, then of Arsenal FC, will not only come to FC barcelona, but also wear the number 14 jersey which Cruyff made a legendary number during his playing days at FC Barcelona. This wish of Johan's has come to pass with Thierry accepting the Number 14 sgirt at Barcelona. Commenting on Thierry Henry, Cruyff says:

Henry is a player of great quality and a very good signing for Barca. Thierry Henry's presence in Barcelona that there will be more pressure to win and a different perspective which means that nobody will be able to relax and take things for granted.
When you see someone like Henry with his physique and form and recognise how exceptional he is, then age is not that important. There are players at 28 or 29 who have not kept themselves as well and they will not play for as long because they have treated themselves differently unlike Henry.

Thierry Henry starred for eight very productive years in Arsenal FC, where he maintained a high scoring record every season through out his stay.

Cruyff also speaks on the other two signings, Toure Yaya and Eric Abidal:

Touré adds a lot and will be a great to watch, while Abidal will bring force and balance.
They are two players who can be used very well. Barcelona is a team where those that make the side are not bad. It is not a question of whether they all start or not because so many players can command a place.

FC Barcelona are in the process of adding at least one central defender to the Barca squad to ensure a water-tight defence next season. Cruyff feels both defenders will fit into the Barca scheme of afairs at Camp Nou:

Milito and Chivu are two great players who can inspire attacks from the rear and move upfront. Barca needs such players in the team and either of them will play very well when bought.

Talks continue for either or both of Chivu and Milito, with other defenders like Jorge Andrade from Deportivo La Coruna waiting in the wings, alonside Manu U ace, Gabriel Heinze.
