FC Barcelona club membership has hit a record high after official figures showed Barcelona now have a total of 156,366 registered club members, the highest figure ever. This figure indicated a growth of 7.92% over the last twelve months. The figures were confirmed as of June 30, 2007.
FC Barcelona have in recent times, mounted a massive membership drive named "The Great Challenge," which aimed at creating greater awareness and accomplishing registeration for potential members. The Great Challenge has paid off, with 11,484 new registrations recorded this last year alone. There have been increases in excess of 10,000 for four years in a row. Growth in 2003-04 was 14,244. In 2004-05 it was 10,628 and in 2005-06 it was 13,875.

People outside Spain are showing increasing interest in Barcelona, with 17% of the new members this year living outside Spain, a reflection of the growing popularity of FC Barcelona and in Barca's international profile.
Also, membership cuts across various age-groups, with slightly higher figures for the 26 to 35 and 36 to 45 ranges, which both have 16.5% of the total. The smallest group is children from 0 to 5 years, but they still make up 8% of the club. FC Barcelona thus has an all-inclusive, family atmoshpere in its membership profile.
