Marcelo Lippi points out potential champions and gives it up for FC Barcelona in the 2007/08 and beyond.


As the new season commences and the dates for the start of local leagues and the UEFA Champions League draws near, predictions are beginning to come in over who wins and who loses and who stays in the middle. Italy's World Cup technical hero, Marcelo Lippi has cast an insightful eye into various clubs in Europe, concluding that above all the clubs, FC Barcelona and Italian Serie A Champions Inter Milan are the strongest with Barcelona having an edge due to the superior Barca attack. Lippi says :

Presently, in European football, there are two teams that represent fantasy football.These teams are Inter and Barcelona. They have the charm, colour and charisma and hold Europe in the palm of their hand.

Lippi also takes out special praises for the best forward line in Europe, FC Barcelona's attacking quartet:

Thierry Henry is one of those champions who makes the difference. Watching the Barca front line is breathtaking with Henry plus Leo Messi, Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto’o. It’s crazy. David Suazo is, however, just as much of a great signing as Henry. He is the striker who perfectly completes the Nerazzurri attack. He is not just formidable when he bursts forward at speed, he has other qualities too and Roberto Mancini saw that.

Marcelo Lippi is in love with Barca's style of play and has recently been monitoring the Blaugrana, who he believes will dominate European football for a long time.
