Lionel Messi and Xavi Hernandez made comments after the cracker in Munich.


FC Barcelona played German star club, Bayern Munich in Germany, defeating the hosts in their backyard. The match winner, Lionel Messi spoke after the game was over, emphasising the strength and technical advantgae Barca has was key to achieving victory. Messi also spoke on his own personal development, before teammmate, Xavi made comments along the same area of team strength, while also spilling praises along the way of his Argentine wonder mate, Messi. In his post match comments, Messi said:

It was a great match. I think that Barça were superior to Bayern. Throughout the whole game we had control of the ball and in the end my goal came and justice was done. I feel fine, a little tired maybe because I have not played for quite some time. Even though I have worked hard during the week, I am still not completely fit just yet. The game went well for me and I am beginning to find my rhythm again.

Xavi while speaking, said:

We were the better side, maintaining constant possession and scoring in the end. Bayern were also good especiallly with their counters as they sometimes caught us on the break. We have been working hard on the whole team tracking back and today I think we saw that it is starting to pay off. Bayern did not manage to catch us out on any counter-attack and they had very few opportunities to score.We are pleased with the win because it came against a very strong side. Barça played a serious game, we made plenty of chances and in the end it was decided by a great goal from Messi.

This now sets the perfect stage for FC Barcelona's next match against Racing Santander in the La Liga opener for 2007/08.
