Coach Alain Perrin speaks on aftermath of planned Gudjohnsen swoop.

Eidur Gudjohnsen was secretly being targeted by French club, Olympique Lyon, while the news was in the mills about Guddy going to Newcastle United, West Ham or Celtic of Scotland. However, just as the French giants were about to make a swoop, injury barred any further moves as Gudjohnsen was injured at Camp Nou, aborting all the plans to lure the former Bolton playmaker to Ligue 1. Lyon’s coach coach Alain Perrin, spoke on the issue and the search for a suitable replacement:

Indeed we asked for information about Gudjohnsen, but he seems injured at the moment. Lyon needs a player available quickly. We also watched Farfan, but it is an improbable trail. So, we go on looking, but we must admit in the current context we rather work by a process of elimination than real choices. Anelka? We have been interested in him for a while, but we understand he doesn't want to come back and play in France.

Gudjohnsen is thought to be more interested in a move to England, and should the Barca forward not be able to make a move before the summer window closes, the January options could still be open, or else, he will have to see out the remain months in his contract at Barcelona before deciding wether to head for France or England.
