Sevilla relied on numerical advantage to over-power nine-man Getafe in a near upset.
After going up in the 2nd minute against hosts, Sevilla, Getafe had to be reduced to nine men courtsey of two red cards shown to their players before Sevilla could equalise and get ahead.
The visitors took an early lead through Pablo Hernandez, but were pegged back just after the break when Jesus Navas headed an equaliser for the Andalusian side. Luis Fabiano, Frederic Kanoute and Alexander Kerzakhov then struck later on to give Juande Ramos' team a comfortable win against a Getafe side down to nine men following the dismissals of Francisco Sousa and David Cortes.
This win now puts Sevilla ahead of Murcia and Real Madrid with superior goal advantage of +3 after all three teams are tied on three points at the top of the Spanish Primera table. Murcia and Real Madrid both have a +1 goal advantage after each securing 2-1 victories. Real Madrid defeated Atletico 2-1 in a narrow escape, while Murcia stunned Real Zaragoza 2-1.
